About this module
The K78xx-500R3 is a 0.5 A non-isolated switching regulator in the pinout of a 78xx linear regulator. Dropping it into an existing 78xx footprint replaces a part that dissipates most of its input power with one that reaches 95% efficiency — usually removing the heatsink and the thermal problem with it.
Input and output share a ground, exactly as the linear part did. If you need galvanic isolation you need an isolated DC/DC converter instead.
