About this module
The K78xx-1000R3(L) is the 1 A member of the K78 family: a non-isolated switching regulator in the 78xx pinout, reaching 96% efficiency with a no-load input current of 0.1 mA. It is the usual choice when a board needs 3.3 V or 5 V from a 12 V or 24 V rail and the old linear part was running hot.
Check the minimum input voltage: it rises with the output voltage, so the 12 V version needs considerably more headroom than the 3.3 V one.
